HIV treatment and prevention expertise

Walgreens is committed to the fight against HIV and support for people living with HIV. Our URAC-accredited pharmacies and HIV-trained pharmacy teams support at-risk communities nationwide. We work collaboratively with providers, nurses and case managers, providing HIV treatment and prevention care designed to promote medication adherence, reduce potential medication side effects and avoid opportunistic infections.

Pharmacist expertise

All Walgreens pharmacists receive HIV prevention and stigma training. Select pharmacy teams have received advanced training on HIV therapies and patient access, helping foster stronger patient-provider relationships and working to reduce gaps in care.

Preventing HIV with PrEP and PEP

Walgreens provides access to therapies for people living with or at risk of HIV, including pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP).

Working to end the pandemic

Since 2001, in support of National HIV Testing Day, we've provided 76,000+ free HIV tests through the Greater Than AIDS/Walgreens National HIV Community Partnership. More than 500 health departments and community organizations have participated in this program to date.
