- What patient population is the FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensor indicated for?
The FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensor is for all people with diabetes aged 2 years and older, including during pregnancy.
- Do I need a new prescription for the FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensor if I already have a prescription for the FreeStyle Libre 2 system or the FreeStyle Libre 14 day system?
The FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensor requires a new valid prescription. You will also need to download the FreeStyle Libre 3 app26, available for free from the App Store and Google Play. To see a list of compatible devices, visit Mobile Device & OS Compatibility.
- Is the accuracy of the sensor consistent over the 15-day wear period?
The FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensor is proven to be accurate28, stable and consistent29 for up to 15 days without fingersticks. Please refer to the FreeStyle Libre 3 User's Manual for more information.
- Is FreeStyle Libre 3 system covered for Medicare patients?
Yes, the FreeStyle Libre 3 system is covered by Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans for patients managing diabetes with insulin. It is the #1 CGM prescribed for Medicare patients13,23-25.
- Can Medicare patients pick up the FreeStyle Libre 3 system at Walgreens?
Yes, eligible23,25 Medicare and Medicare Advantage patients can now pick up their FreeStyle Libre 3 system prescriptions at Walgreens pharmacies.
- Can I shower, swim or exercise while wearing a FreeStyle Libre 3 or FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensor?
Yes, these sensors are water-resistant in up to 1 meter (3 feet) of water. Do not immerse longer than 30 minutes.
