Diabetes Diet Do's and Don'ts
Do: Eat Fish

Because having diabetes puts you at a higher risk for heart disease, it’s smart to eat fish at least twice a week. The reason: Fish contains omega-3 fatty acids. These polyunsaturated fats are known to lower blood triglycerides and cardiovascular risk. What’s more, eating fish can substitute for eating less heart-protective protein sources like steak and burgers. Favor fatty fish like salmon, trout and sardines, which pack more heart-healthy omega-3 fats than other fish.
