Added fat, such as nut , butter or cream
Blended or pureed foods, soups, smoothies, yogurt, casseroles, eggs, tender meats and well-cooked mashed fruits and vegetables and granitas
Room-temperature or cold food
Sauces, liquid, broth or gravy to moisten food
Ice chips, sugarless gum or hard candy to moisten mouth

Salty, spicy, sugary, acidic foods
Rough or coarse foods
Ginger, curry, red pepper and strong spices
It can take several weeks for mouth sores or dry mouth to improve. Call your doctor right away if oral problems linger or you have difficulty eating, drinking or breathing.
Contact your health care provider immediately if you experience:
- Dry mouth for more than 3 days
- Inability to swallow food or medicine
- Inability to drink
- Trouble breathing
- A temperature of 100. 5° F or higher
- Bleeding gums
- Redness or shininess in mouth
